Remember that Sinh tố bơ recipe that I posted a while ago? This is another version of that sweet avocado milkshake. The shake is really thick and super sweet (which is how I like it), but this smoothie is a whole lot healthier.
My mom's co-worker, Miriam, introduced me to avocado-based drinks. At first I thought it was such a gross idea, but they actually taste really good. A bit grassy maybe, but still good. This avocado smoothie recipe is much lighter than the shake, and less sweet too. So while the milkshake is great for dessert, this smoothie is well-suited to breakfast or a post-workout snack.
Feel free to play around with the quantities to suit your personal taste.

I am dairy free and don’t eat yogurt. Substitutions?

Can you have vegan yogurt? A coconut-based yogurt would probably work just fine.

Hello, just wondering does this recipe still taste the same as the regular Vietnamese smoothie, or does it taste a bit different and more yoghurt-y?
Shareba says
It does have a different taste. The regular one (at least the one I make) is VERY sweet due to all of the condensed milk in it. This healthy version tastes more like a yogurt-based smoothie, and is less sweet (unless you add a lot of honey). I hope this helps!

I love that using avocado in smoothies makes them even creamier than with bananas and that this smoothie also doesn't try to hide away the flavour of the avo - it's forefront and centre! I can't wait to try this recipe, in fact I've got some avocados in the fruit bowl now 🙂
Thanks for sharing at Smoothie OTW, I hope you'll link up again soon 🙂
