Last week I wrote about grilling peaches, which is a great way to use up ripe peaches. I grilled so many though, that I ended up with a bowl of leftovers. This morning I thought I'd try adding some of those grilled peaches into my smoothie, and the results were very tasty!
Smoothies are great for using up leftover or overripe fruit. For example, if I have too many ripe bananas, I cut them up and throw them in the freezer for smoothies. Any leftover cooked fruit that I've made for dessert will also work in a smoothie. Ultimately, fruits are just too expensive to throw away so I try to reduce my waste as much as possible.
And hey, if reducing waste means whipping up a tasty grilled peach smoothie, then I think that's a win-win scenario!
I added a touch of lime juice to the smoothie, to help balance out the sweetness of the peaches. This is completely optional, but I really like the flavour that the lime juice added.
Do you have any little flavour boosters that you add to your smoothie? Let me know in the comments!
