About the Author

Shareba Abdul

Hi! I'm Shareba Abdul, a food photographer, recipe developer, and writer based in Ontario, Canada.

Over the past 15+ years, I've built In Search Of Yummy-ness into a trusted resource for home cooks, creating well-tested recipes, original food photography, and branded content for both everyday readers and national food brands.

My Experience

My background spans many areas of food media, both behind the scenes of brand campaigns and as a content creator.

I've worked on Canadian cooking shows, including The Main and Everyday Exotic, assisted professional food stylists on national brand campaigns, and developed, styled, and photographed food for television ads and social media.

As a freelance recipe developer and food photographer, I've created branded content for Nutella, The McEwan Group, SweeTango Apples, and Grace Foods Canada, and contributed food and lifestyle writing to Yahoo Canada and Food Bloggers of Canada.

All of this shapes how I approach my work today, creating recipes people actually want to make, written clearly, tested thoroughly, and supported by strong visuals.

My Education

  • Honours Bachelor of Applied Arts (Media Studies) | University of Guelph-Humber
  • Diploma in Journalism (Print & Broadcast) | Humber College, in partnership with the University of Guelph-Humber
  • Culinary Arts Certificate | George Brown College Continuing Education

My Expertise

After more than 15 years of running In Search Of Yummy-ness, my work focuses on helping home cooks feel confident in the kitchen with approachable, flavourful recipes and practical cooking guidance.

My cooking style is laid back and comforting, with a balance of healthy dishes and treats. Growing up in a multicultural part of Canada, with Trinidadian roots, has given me an appreciation for flavours from around the world, too.
