Do you like artisan breads? You know, those hand-crafted breads that usually have all kinds of yummy ingredients baked in? I’m a big fan of those, so I thought I might like these new artisan crackers that came out this year.
These are the Kii Naturals CRISPS; crackers that are made using a traditional artisan baking method, and contain interesting ingredients including Himalayan pink salt and fresh buttermilk.
The company says that they “source the finest, most authentic flavourful fruits, nuts, seeds, grain and spices from around the world to create healthier, better tasting foods.” This is a big part of their mission statement, in fact, their catch phrase is “authentic ingredients, from where they grow naturally.” I can’t comment on how these specifically sourced ingredients affect the taste, but I do appreciate that they have zero trans fat, zero cholesterol, and no preservatives.
The crackers are currently available in the following flavours:
- Apricot Orange Almond
- Cranberry Pumpkin Seed
- Date & Walnut
- Goji Berry & Pistachio
- Mango Curry & Cashew
- Rosemary Pistachio.
I tried three of these flavours. Here’s what I think about each one:
Rosemary Pistachio: This flavour combines rosemary and parsley with golden honey from Canada, and pistachio nuts. It has a very strong savoury flavour with a little bit of sweetness. This one was my favourite, and paired really well with Boursin garlic and herb cheese.
Date & Walnut: This flavour is described as “earthy” and “rich” on the company website. I actually thought this one was a little bit bland. It needs a strongly flavoured dip, cheese, or spread to bring out the earthy flavours. Actually, a blue cheese would probably pair well with this one.
Cranberry Pumpkin Seed: Even though the pumpkin seeds add a distinctive flavour to these crackers, it is a very mild. The cranberries in this cracker add much-needed “zing”, which makes this cracker pair well with plain cream cheese.
These would be a nice addition to your holiday cheese platter, or even a fancy addition to your snack stash in your desk drawer.
Where to Buy Kii Naturals:
You can find these crackers in the deli section of many major grocery stores including Walmart, Loblaws, and Sobey’s. For more information, visit the Kii Naturals Website.
I’ve had quite a few people contact me asking “where can I buy Kii Naturals in Australia?” I asked the company, and apparently you can find Kii Naturals entire line of products at Woolworths. I hope that helps!
