The makers of Melba toast have launched a new line of baked goods this month. This time they’re focusing on satisfying your sweet tooth. The new Boulangerie Grissol Sweet Thins are basically dessert-like versions of Melba toast, and they come in 3 flavours: banana bread, chocolate brownie and lemon poppy seed.
These thin, crispy toasts are conveniently portion-packaged, which makes them a nice treat to stash in your purse, desk drawer or backpack. Each serving (2 toasts) have 80 calories, no artificial flavours, no artificial colours, no cholesterol, and are trans fat-free. This doesn’t exactly make them a “healthy” snack, but they’re ok to have as a treat here and there. Dare Foods say that these sweet snacks are made by baking, slicing and toasting fresh loaves (but don’t try this at home, it won’t be the same).
I really like the Lemon Poppy Seed flavour because it tastes and smells like a lemon poppy seed loaf. The Chocolate Brownie is also nice, but it’s more “cake” than “brownie” in my opinion. My least favourite flavour is the Banana Bread. I don’t think it has as much flavour as the other 2, but my mom likes that one so you might not agree with me. Try them out with a cup of tea or coffee and let me know what you think of them.
Fun Fact: In case you were wondering (I was) apparently the word Boulangerie refers to a French-style bakery.
